Welcome to Wayne Zion’s annual beef and ham dinner, normally held the third Wednesday in October. After much discussion and with everyone’s safety in mind, our church council made the decision to cancel last year’s Harvest Festival.
Knowing that many meals are picked up and taken to our farmers working the harvest, we instead decided to have a day of cooking and packing hot meals specifically for them. This was done October 2020 and was very well received.
Another event like this for the farm families in our membership was held for Spring 2021 planting. Thanks to the organizers and the volunteer cooks and assistants, as well as those who picked up and delivered meals to the workers in the fields. It was an impressive team effort to feed our farmers!
Our beef and ham dinner is traditionally served family-style. With the presence of COVID-19 in our area, holding such an event is not wise. We look forward to again hosting our community once this pandemic is over.
